Textiles

Sally has a real passion and interest for textiles as this is her specialist subject having been awarded a degree and masters in the subject. There are some fabulous techniques that can be used with all age groups and show the diversity of the processes.

Sally can offer projects and workshops using Batik, Feltmaking, printing, embroidery & appliqué or combinations of any as they all work together well.

Projects have included:
Early years – Feltmaking – considering abstract patterns and shapes as the children experiment with the wool before rolling it into felt. We created individual and a group piece

Primary – working with the story of ali baba and the forty thieves small groups of students created story boards to highlight each part of the story, They then created visuals for each that were then created in Batik panels before being stitched together to create a large scale hanging.

Secondary – felt hats – developing 3D feltmaking to create various accessories inspired by their project work.

Community Work – As lead artist for Social Fabric I worked with several groups to help create textile pages for large scale books based on participants feeling, poetry and drawn images.
